Sofia Milos - CSI: Miami
Though her family would ultimately settle in Italy, Sofia Milos was born to a Greek father and Italian mother in Zurich, Switzerland. By the time she reached adolescence, Milos had demonstrated a clear knack for the liberal arts, and, in addition to proving herself a skilled painter, had become fluent in Italian, French, German, Greek, Suisse, Spanish, and English. Though she wouldn’t begin acting until later in life, Milos nonetheless got used to public scrutiny when she won a beauty contest at the age of 14, beginning a successful modeling career a year later — so successful, in fact, that the money she earned modeling throughout France, Italy, Japan, Russia, and the United States paid for her education at the School of Business and Economics in Switzerland. Â
In 1990, Milos decided to take up residence in the United States, where she spent time living in New York before settling down in Los Angeles. Shortly after her arrival, Milos began attending acting classes at the Beverly Hills Playhouse, which is led by renowned acting coach and director Milton Katselas. Milos worked primarily in theater circles until 1993, when she was cast in Café Americain, NBC’s short-lived sitcom co-starring Valerie Bertinelli and Maurice Godin. Though the show wasn’t a hit, the right people noticed her potential, and Milos began racking up an impressive television resumé. She appeared on Friends in 1995, made a guest appearance on Mad About You in 1996, and landed a reoccurring role on Caroline in the City from 1997-1998. Though she made her feature film debut in 1999 — she played one of Tim Meadows’ voluptuous love interests in The Ladies Man — it wasn’t until her performance as mob boss Annalisa Zucca on HBO’s The Sopranos that she would achieve mainstream recognition.
Â
HBO continued to showcase Milos’ talents in Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm, for which she played an entirely improvised role as the girlfriend of Richard Lewis. After several more unsuccessful television pilots and a guest spot on ER, Milos starred as a long-suffering widow opposite Jason Isaacs and Lupe Ontiveros in Passionada (2003). Following the film, Milos landed a regular role as detective Yelina Salas in the hit television drama CSI: Miami. ~ Tracie Cooper, All Movie Guide

Amber Tamblyn in “Grudge 2″
Her father, Russ Tamblyn, starred in the classic “The Haunting†(1963), after all, as well as in the horrific “Dracula vs. Frankenstein†(1971) and “Blood Screams†(1988).
Amber herself has guest-starred in an episode of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer†(2001) and played a bit part as Naomi Watts’ cousin in “The Ring†(2002).
That expertise lay behind her hesitance when she was offered the chance to star in “The Grudge 2,†directed by Takashi Shimizu, who had directed both “The Grudge†(2004) and “Ju-On†(2003), the Japanese film on which it was based, as well as a couple of Japanese sequels.
“My initial reaction was much trepidation, only for the fact that I’d done the first ‘Ring’ film,†Tamblyn said. “I was thinking, ‘Well, I’ve done my horror movie.’ There’s always a fear of being put in this weird typecast position of, ‘Oh, she only does this.’ Plus ‘Grudge 2′ is another horror film, and there have been like a ton of really crappy horror films that have come out that I’ve seen in the last two years, that I really wasn’t stoked about. And it’s a sequel. So it had a lot of things going against my doing it.
“But we talked about it, and my agent said, ‘You know, it’s not like they’re just picking strange people to do this movie. It’s Sam Raimi producing and it’s Takashi Shimizu directing it.’ Shimizu-san directed the Japanese ‘Ju-On’ series, and that was a really important element to me. It’s his baby, it’s his child. It’d be like Robert Rodriguez coming back to do ‘Sin City 2.’ It’s his creation, and you want to be a part of that.
“So I was a little excited after I heard all of that about ‘The Grudge 2.’ Then I read the script and was even more excited.â€
The 23-year-old actress is best known as the title character in the critically acclaimed, sadly short-lived series “Joan of Arcadia†(2003-2005), as well as for the film “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants†(2005). Needless to say, “The Grudge 2†is a different sort of project.
Set to open on Friday, the film picks up not long after the events of “The Grudge,†in which Sarah Michelle Gellar played Karen, an American woman who moves to Japan only to find herself dealing with a malevolent curse called the Grudge that overwhelms its victims with fear before moving on to someone else.
Speaking by telephone from her Los Angeles home, the breathlessly fast-talking Tamblyn explains that she plays Karen’s sister, Aubrey.
“Aubrey is the underdog of her family,†Tamblyn said. “Karen is the good girl, all-American, great in school, really close with her mother, and Aubrey is timid and quiet and doesn’t really know what she’s doing. She’s sort of living in her sister’s shadow a little bit.
“Her mother, who is really, really sick, then calls upon her to say, ‘Your sister is in the hospital. We don’t know what the (heck) is going on. She tried to burn down a house. She’s in a mental institution. She might die. Go see her.’
“And so Aubrey has to go to Japan by herself. That’s really interesting because, to me, metaphorically, it’s very much the same element of her going in to try and figure out what the Grudge actually is, trying to figure out that mystery and getting caught up in it through the web that her sister has spun.â€
Tamblyn who’s due next in the drama “Stephanie Daley†and the teen comedy/drama “Normal Adolescent Behavior,†with a thriller called “Blackout†about to begin shooting said that “The Grudge 2†will be released with a PG-13 rating.
“Let me tell you this, there has been a major rumor that it’s going to be rated R,†Tamblyn said, “which is funny because it was almost rated R. I think it was debated very heavily whether it was going to be R or not. We had to shoot a certain part of the film two different ways. I had to come back and reshoot a scene.â€
Jaime Pressly - Former Model
It may surprise fans to learn that former tomboy-turned-sex symbol Jaime Pressly is actually pretty old-fashioned given her numerous provocative film roles and a revealing layout in Playboy magazine. It’s no secret that Pressly shudders at the idea of going in front of the cameras for a love scene, and even considers onscreen kissing a little too intimate for comfort. Born in Kinston, NC, in July of 1977, young Pressly studied dance and gymnastics for 11 years before taking a turn as a model in the U.S., Italy, and Japan. Following an appearance on the cover of Teen magazine, Pressly began to gain momentum in the modeling world, and it seemed inevitable that she would soon make the leap to celluloid. Legally emancipated from her parents at the age of 15, Pressly made her feature debut as a teenage seductress in Poison Ivy: The New Seduction (she was offered the role after appearing as Drew Barrymore’s body double in the original Poison Ivy [1992]), and went on to appear in such features as Can’t Hardly Wait, Ringmaster (both 1998), and Poor White Trash (2000). On the small screen, Pressly made a big impression as a promiscuous dancer in the series Jack and Jill, and has made appearances on Hollywood Squares. In 1998, Pressly was married to Brodie Mitchell, resulting in a collective sigh of disappointment among her legions of male admirers, who have constructed countless Internet shrines to the toothsome actress. Increasingly in demand into the new millennium, Pressly appeared in such features as Tomcats, Joe Dirt, and Not Another Teen Movie (all 2001), as well as becoming the spokeswoman for Liz Claiborne’s Lucky You fragrance.

The Ford modeling agency found Lilly on the streets of Kelowna, British Columbia. She later signed to the agency so that she could pay her education expenses at the University of British Columbia.

Lilly also had her role in TV series “Judgment Day” (2002) and “Kingdom Hospital” (2004), and movies “Stealing Sinatra” (2003) and “The Long Weekend” (2005). As a result of her outstanding act, the Entertainment Weekly has voted Evangeline Lilly as one of the Breakout Stars of 2004.
Eva Longoria and Tony Parker Split
Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria and San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker have split up, People magazine reported.
“They did break up. It’s amicable,” a source close to the couple tells People, adding, “They are talking and trying to figure the best course of action for their future. They are trying to work things out.”
“It’s distance and demanding careers and not living in same city,” said the source. “It didn’t happen yesterday. It’s been going on for a while.”
Longoria’s rep Liza Anderson on Friday refused to confirm or deny rumors the couple have ended their 18-month romance, but she admited Longoria and her French boyfriend are experiencing “a difficult time.”
“Eva and Tony are going through a very difficult time right now, just like any other couple with extremely demanding careers,” Anderson said.
A source close to Parker told People earlier Friday that Parker said rumors of a breakup were not true.
Longoria, 31, and Parker, 24, met in November 2004 and, though they played coy at first, by August 2005, Longoria had confirmed they were a couple.
