Shar Jackson
Born in Boston, MA, Shar Jackson’s acting career began when she was enrolled in the legendary Al Fann Theatrical Ensemble at the age of three. While she attended private school, she began modeling with the Ubiquitous, John Robert Powers and Barbizon agencies. She also started to study acting at the same time, learning the craft under the direction of Bob Feldman - you may have heard of his acting son, Corey.
At the age of 11, Jackson decided to focus solely on acting. Through the Al Fann Theatrical Ensemble, she was quickly cast in several national commercials and landed guest-starring roles on such series as Roc, My So-Called Life, Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper, Clueless, and The Steve Harvey Show. On the big screen, she worked with Omar Epps and Sanaa Lathan in Love & Basketball, as well many additional films including Good Burger, Boom Box, Grand Avenue and Cell Block 4.
At the age of 19, she landed her most notable role on the series Moesha, which ran on UPN from 1996-2001. Starring opposite R&B singer Brandy, Jackson demonstrated her comedic abilities through her character “Niecey Jackson” and expanded her range as an actress.
As a true all-round entertainer, Jackson’s passion for singing inspired her to form the pop and R&B group Mpulz, which was featured on The Princess Diaries movie soundtrack in 2001. Though she thoroughly enjoyed the experience, Jackson voluntarily took a break from the band to spend more time with her children. However, she is now back in the studio, having signed with an independent record label.
In 2004, Jackson became a household name for another reason. Her love, Kevin Federline, whom she had met during a Moesha wrap party, left Jackson for pop singer Britney Spears. At the time, Jackson was pregnant with the couple’s second child (she has two other children with a high school boyfriend). What ensued was a media circus like no other, however, Jackson has persevered and continues to prove her strength as both an entertainer, as well as a successful single mother who is still in her 20s.
In the face of adversity, Jackson continually handles herself with grace and dignity. In 2005, she started the S.H.A.R foundation, which stands for “Sharing, Helping, And Reconciling lives.” The aim is to inspire others with her sense of strength and positivity that turns life’s unfortunate situations into empowering experiences.
As we chat, Jackson is just as positive and full of life as the person you’ve come to know. In our conversation, she talks about: her love for performing that started at a very early age; the gossip rollercoaster of 2004 that continues to this very day and recently forced her into pulling her oldest son out of school; her new cosmetics line inspired by a certain question; her new music career and the rumors of her own rendition of a Toxic single; and finally, she speaks of the support system that keeps this 29-year-old entertainer moving full speed ahead.
Debra Lafave
Debra Lafave, the former middle-school teacher who admitted having sex with a 14-year-old student, got a judge’s permission to sit down for a national TV interview with NBC’s Matt Lauer at a hotel.
Lafave is serving three years’ house arrest. She sought and was granted an exception to the guidelines of her sentence to meet Lauer for an interview Tuesday that will be broadcast later on the “Dateline” program.
State Circuit Judge Wayne Timmerman accepted Lafave’s guilty plea to two counts of lewd and lascivious battery in November. He granted permission Monday for the interview, according to court records.
“Debbie really wanted to explain her bipolar illness in hopes that it might be beneficial to people when they hear about it,” her attorney John Fitzgibbons said.
Court records show prosecutor Michael Sinacore didn’t object because the 25-year-old was not compensated, a condition of her sentence.
Lafave’s case made tabloid headlines all over the world after her sexual liaisons with the student were made public. The boy told investigators the two had sex in a classroom at Greco Middle School in Temple Terrace near Tampa, her Riverview town house and once in a vehicle while his 15-year-old cousin drove them around Marion County.

Maria Sharapova
She sells mobile phones, wristwatches, cameras, handbags and jewelry, automobiles, perfumes, tennis racquets, shoes, and clothing.
She made more than $20 million last year as a marketing engine for nine companies, all willing to keep her workdays under two weeks a year — total.
She is Maria Sharapova, the player and the product.
“With Maria, we’re building a brand,” said Max Eisenbud, the Ohio sports marketing agent who has known his best-known client since she was 11 years old.
They met at a sports academy in Bradenton, Fla., where Sharapova had won a tennis scholarship after emigrating from Russia at age 7.
The substance of Sharapova’s business plan, Eisenbud said, grew out of a sit-down conversation he had with another agent, Max Steinberg, whose best-known client is Tiger Woods.
“We figured out how Tiger does it,” he said. Steinberg, Eisenbud said, “gave me an idea of the platform we could use.”
Platform, Platform, Platform
Few athletes other than Woods and Andre Agassi have the kind of recognition factor and the number of “relationships” with sponsors that Sharapova has amassed, mostly in the two years since she won the Wimbledon Championship at the age of 17.
The word “platform” re-enters the conversation.
“It means that all her relationships make sense. The blue chips [companies] all make sense,” Eisenbud said.
“She uses the products. She doesn’t just scratch her head and say, ‘Wow, I’ll do this for the money.’ She’s building relationships.”
If the money numbers are correct — a Forbes magazine estimate of $19 million was “light by about $1 [million] to $2 million” — the world’s most highly paid female sports athlete makes a phenomenal $1,357,144 a day.
That’s because Sharapova limits access to her time to 10 days to 12 days a year, shunning all marketing work within four weeks of any tournament, which is where she plays for a living.
Her reported prize money for the year prior to this year’s US Open — $1,493,923 — amounted to little more than a day’s pay in the world of endorsements.

Eva Longoria
Eva Longoria was born in Corpus Christi, Texas. She attended Texas’ A&M University before breaking into T.V. soap operas which includes The Bold and the Beautiful, General Hospital and Beverly Hills 90210. Gabrielle Solis may be one of the characters in the popular primetime series Desperate Housewives, but Eva Longoria, the actress who plays Gabrielle, is far from desperate. She finally found a more permanent home after being cast in The Young and the Restless as Isabella. Eva took time to fall in love and later marry Tyler Christopher, formally of General Hospital. Rumor has it they have since filed for divorce.
Over 21 million people tuned in for the premiere of Desperate Housewives, skyrocketing it to the highest ranking new show of it’s season. Sexy Eva was one of the show’s stars. Her character, Gabrielle, has everything she ever wanted but isn’t content or happy. A far cry from the actress who plays her. Eva’s humble beginnings started with modeling and beauty pageants in her home state of Texas.
Determination and persistence guided her way to Los Angeles where acting stepping-stones placed Eva on her career’s platform today. She is happy. Still finding time to indulge in her love of sports, Eva also participates in organizations which support the advancement of Latinos. She’s won an Alma award and Variety labeled her one of the Ten New Faces To Watch. She will take part in Maxim’s 2005 calendar and can hold her own on a Salsa Dance floor.

Tennis star Maria Sharapova has a lot going for her. At only 18 years of age she has become the world’s highest paid female athlete. Born in Nyagan, Russia, (in the Siberian region) on April 19, 1987, she began playing tennis at a very young age. By the time she was nine she had moved to Bradenton, Florida, (where she currently resides) to train at Nick Bollettieri’s Tennis Academy. Her crowning moment came in 2004, when she won Wimbledon at a mere 17 year of age, solidifying a consistent spot in the top five. Off the court she is known for her looks. She often takes modeling jobs and works on her endorsements, the likes of which include Motorola, Canon and Honda Japan. The attractive six-foot-tall blond often draws comparisons to fellow Russian tennis-pro-turned-model Anna Kournikova, but her skills on the court are what set the two apart.
